Daniel Jousse was a French jurist and magistrate, best known for his detailed commentaries on the great royal ordinances of the Ancien Régime. He served in particular as a judge at Orléans. His Commentaire sur l'Ordonnance des Eaux et Forêts of August 1669 is considered one of the great practical treatises of early forestry law. It explains and interprets the ordinance promulgated under Jean-Baptiste Colbert during the reign of Louis XIV.
