Complete dossier on the bookbinder's trade taken from one of the eleven volumes of illustrations printed between 1762 and 1782 of "L'Encyclopédie ou Dictionnaire raisonné des sciences, des arts & des métiers, par une Société de Gens de lettres" by Diderot and d'Alembert. Folio comprising one page of explanations of the plates followed by the engraved plates (plates I and II by Prévost): pl. I: "Doreur, sur métaux" pl. II: "Doreur, sur Métaux" pl. III: "Doreur sur Cuir" pl. IV: "Doreur, sur Bois". They depict the tools used by gilders. Plates I, III and IV are adorned with vignettes showing the craftsmen at work. Good condition; plate IV: loss to the upper right corner, not affecting the platemark.
