Three small pinhead-sized spots on the spine. Interior free of foxing, very fine condition. This edition of this philosophical tale by Voltaire is complete with the bistre vignettes and the 4 line engravings by Louis Latapie. Louis Latapie (1891-1972) was a French painter, engraver, and lithographer, close to the Cubist movements of his era. Marais paper is a high-luxury paper intended for bibliophile editions. It is produced using traditional methods by the Papeteries du Marais, and is distinguished by its fine texture, strength, pleasing grain, and suitability for fine printing.
