First Edition. Quarto (4to) (20.5 x 13.5 cm); Complete with 4 volumes bound in one; T1 392 pp. ; T2 359 pp. ; T3 354 pp. ; T4 256 pp.. Havana full calf leather binding with smooth spine and red title label. Speckled edges. Interior very fresh. Complete with its folding tables. Very good condition. First edition of this collection dedicated to the "intermediate law", a fundamental period of French legal history, between the Revolution and the promulgation of the Civil Code. The work is completed by tables of concordance for weights and measures, depreciation of paper money, correspondence of the Republican and Gregorian calendars, as well as a reasoned alphabetical table. Jean-Baptiste Sirey (1762-1845), priest, lawyer and famous jurisconsult, also author of the "Recueil général des Lois et des arrêtés", gathers with G.S.L., the civil laws promulgated from August 4, 1789 until 30 Ventôse Year XII, the date of promulgation of the Civil Code. These texts constitute the legal link between the old law and the work of Napoleonic codification (abolition of the institutions of the Ancien Régime, new civil status, status of persons, property, successions and transmission of goods). Published in 1806, two years after the Civil Code, this collection responded to the practical necessity of allowing magistrates and jurists to find the revolutionary provisions that remained applicable to acts and situations prior to 1804.

This work bridges the gap between the law of the Revolution and the new Napoleonic Civil Code (abolition of the institutions of the Ancien Régime, new civil status, status of persons, property, successions and transmission of goods...)
