Inventory of the 24 grape varieties cultivated in Alsace followed by an overview of viticulture in Alsace. L'Ampélographie rhénane, published in 1852, is a major work of Alsatian viticultural literature: it describes and compares the Rhine grape varieties through their botanical characteristics, history, and uses.
