Beautiful allegorical composition celebrating the capture of Nancy by Louis XIII in 1633: the city, personified as a kneeling woman, hands over its keys to the sovereign surrounded by soldiers dressed in antique style. Below the composition are six lines of verse by Pierre Corneille, emphatically comparing the rapid conquest of Nancy to the ten years required by the Greeks to take Troy.
