Complete dossier on the bookbinder's trade taken from one of the eleven volumes of illustrations printed between 1762 and 1782 of "L'Encyclopédie ou Dictionnaire raisonné des sciences, des arts & des métiers, par une Société de Gens de lettres" by Diderot and d'Alembert. Folio comprising one page of explanations of the plates followed by the plates engraved by Benard: pl. I: "Relieur" pl. II: "Relieur, Presse a Rogner et Developpemens" pl. III: "Relieur" pl. IV: "Relieur, Presse et Développemens" pl. V: "Relieur Doreur" pl. VI: "Relieur Doreur, Presse, Développements et Outils." They depict the tools used by bookbinders and binder-gilders, and a vignette illustrates a bookbinders' workshop (pl. I) and a binder-gilders' workshop (pl. V) with workmen and a sewing woman. Slight crease to the upper corner.
