Copy inscribed to a cantonal physician of La Wantzenau by the artist's daughter, on September 27, 1906. Large polychrome neo-Gothic border decorated with scrollwork and floral motifs. Title in a lower cartouche: S. WENDELINUS. Signed in the stone A. Chuquet lower left. Good condition with wide margins. This lithograph depicts Saint Wendelin, patron saint of shepherds, surrounded by his flock, holding a shepherd's crook; in the background, a hermitage, cross, and spring. Fine impression on heavy paper, preserved with its original margins and border. Family provenance of the artist. Alphonse Charles Henri Chuquet, a customs officer based in La Wantzenau, was an Alsatian draftsman and lithographer very active in the second half of the 19th century.

St. Wendelin is the patron saint of shepherds. A church in La Wantzenau near Strasbourg is dedicated to him. Chuquet was an artist from La Wantzenau who depicted this village and its culture. Uncommon, fine impression inscribed by the artist's daughter.
