The essential part of the work is devoted to Argentorate, the Roman city, whose military layout, fortifications, roads, monuments, necropolises, cults, inscriptions, coins, and numerous objects from excavations are studied. The richness of the illustration, composed of surveys, reconstructions, and reproductions of archaeological pieces, gives the work great documentary value.
