Half-morocco with corners, spine with raised bands, blind-tooled decoration on the boards, author and title gilt, date and place of publication at the foot of the spine. Very light rubbing on the boards and some foxing. Second edition, enlarged with a preface. Deluxe printing, one of 25 copies printed on China paper, numbered and initialled by the publisher. 25 copies on Whatman paper and 100 on laid paper were also printed. Vicaire (III, 839) A very fine copy in a binding signed by the great Brussels binder Charles de Samblanx (1855-1943). The original printed covers and spine have been preserved. Eugène Fromentin (1820 - 1876) was an Orientalist painter and writer. "Un été dans le Sahara" was composed from his notes and sketches of his travels in Algeria from 1846 onwards.
