Central fold from the atlas from which it originates. Minor, insignificant soiling, notably in the lower left corner. Very good overall condition. Large map depicting the West Indies and the lands around the Isthmus of Panama, including the Antilles, the Gulf of Mexico, Florida, Central America, and the northern coasts of South America. It is adorned with a large decorative title cartouche. The main map is that of the "Isles de l'Amérique et de plusieurs Pays de Terre Ferme" established by Sieur d'Anville, Geographer to the King, in March 1731. It is further composed of four secondary plans: Ports of Vera Cruz and Saint Augustine; Panama, the city of Saint-Domingue. Finally, a very fine bird's-eye view of Mexico City completes the set. This map is part of the cartographic production of the Heirs of Johann Baptist Homann, whose workshop in Nuremberg continued the work of the famous cartographer.
