Château de Marly-Le-Roi - Abreuvoir
1876
ABREUVOIR - Château de Marly-le-Roi Current state Auguste-Alexandre Guillaumot (1815–1892) Etching, 1865, in a print around 1876. Publisher, V. H. A. Morel et Cie Printed in Paris by Ch. Chardon aîné. Sheet dimensions: 29.7 x 43.3 cm Plate mark dimensions: 24.8 x 36.3 cm Very good condition and beautiful margins in a sepia print. Plate inserted in the magazine l'Art. The name "L'Art" is clearly visible in the lower left corner of the plate. However, just above, the mention of the publisher V. H. A. Morel is faintly visible, confirming the use of the old plate for insertion in the magazine. Guillaumot is a recognized engraver and draftsman whose work was notably built around the rediscovery and enhancement of the Chateau de Marly-le-Roi and its remains. In this, he fully aligns with the movement initiated by Viollet-le-Duc, in a 19th century reconnecting with the architectural history of France.
Etching in sepia print. Very beautiful proof of the monumental troughs of the Chateau de Marly-le-Roi. Magnificent remains highlighted by Guillaumot.
