Subject size: 25.5 x 38 cm Leaf size: 36.3 x 53.5 cm Fine inking and good condition. William Wyld (1806‑1889) – Lithograph of the Palais de la Bourse, Paris, 1838 An uncommon visual record of Paris before the Haussmann transformations. William Wyld, an English painter and lithographer, settled in Paris in 1834. Initially drawn to Orientalist scenes, he soon turned to classical architecture, favouring detail and precision. This lithograph shows the Palais de la Bourse and the urban life around it, offering a precious historical and artistic document of the Paris of the 1830s. Wyld's attention to architecture and to the movement of the city makes this plate particularly lively and representative of his style.
