Platemark size: 15.5 x 12 cm. Second state of two. A fine impression on cream laid paper showing sensitive plate tone, visible copper burr and a rich, velvety, well-contrasted printing. Portrait of Armand Guillaumin, Impressionist painter and close friend of Cézanne, depicted seated beneath a sign figuring a hanged man. This print belongs to the very rare group of etchings produced by Cézanne at the beginning of the 1870s, bearing witness to his graphic experiments alongside his activity as a painter. The platemark is clearly visible on all four sides. Old laid paper with perfectly visible and regular chain lines and laid lines. Collection stamp on the verso « 1989 RUSU ». A rare piece of Cézanne's original printmaking, sought after for its experimental character and its link with the nascent Impressionist circle.
