Folio, 6 unnumbered leaves + 392 pp. + 16 unnumbered leaves + 2 unnumbered leaves + 604 pp. + 16 unnumbered leaves + 2 unnumbered leaves + 374 pp. + 21 unnumbered leaves, contemporary pigskin over wooden boards, raised bands spine (five bands), brown calf leather title label (worm holes on the title label), beveled boards decorated with blind-stamped fillets, foliage, and rolls, gauffered edges (clasps missing, binding slightly rubbed, joint of the upper board split for 10 cm, and of the lower board for 2 cm). Interior fresh despite some traces of dampstaining and oxidation of certain leaves. Early edition of the biblical commentaries by the famous Flemish Jesuit exegete Cornelius a Lapide (Cornelius Cornelissen van den Steen, 1567-1637). Copy originating from the Göttweig Abbey (monastère Gottwicensis), as evidenced by the manuscript notes at the beginning of each of the books in the volume. This large Benedictine monastery was founded in 1083 in Lower Austria. This important work gathers the commentaries dedicated to the Acts of the Apostles, the Canonical Epistles, and the Apocalypse of Saint John. Written in Latin, these commentaries enjoyed wide distribution in Catholic Europe during the 17th and 18th centuries. Fine complete set of its three parts, in one volume. A copy is held at the Munich Library.
