Handsome contemporary Full Morocco leather binding. Giovanni Bona (1609-1674), Italian Cistercian Cardinal, is counted among the great authors of 17th-century Catholic spirituality. In this work, belonging to the tradition of the Ars moriendi, he invites the Christian to prepare for a "good death" through a life of prayer, virtue, detachment from earthly goods, examination of conscience, and trust in divine mercy. This printing is rarer than contemporary Parisian editions.
