Rare reissue (the first edition in 1610) of this French military treatise in which Louys de Montgommery proposes a reform of the French military organization inspired by ancient Roman and Macedonian models. The work belongs to the great tradition of humanist strategic treatises of the late Renaissance. Illustrated with copper engravings in the text representing formations, tactical dispositions, organization of the legions, and elements of artillery. A work rarely found on the market.
