Very beautiful copy, foxing only on the endpapers, the rest of the work is almost free from it. Interior very fresh. Important publication of sources dedicated to the diplomatic relations between the France of Louis XIV and the Swiss cantons at the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries. Jean de Boislisle compiles and annotates the correspondence and dispatches of the Marquis de Puyzieulx, ambassador in Switzerland from 1698 to 1708, shedding light on French policy on the eve and during the early years of the War of the Spanish Succession. The work remains a reference for the study of Franco-Swiss relations under the reign of Louis XIV, Swiss military capitulations, and the diplomacy of the Ancien Régime. Beautiful copy in elegant red half-morocco binding of the period, very well preserved.
