Mortuary Broadside

Mortuary Broadside Typography and Woodcut. 1788. Sheet dimensions: 46.5 x 58.5 cm Vignette dimensions in woodcut: 10.2 x 9.8 cm. Mortuary Broadside for the late Miss Jeanne-Margueritte Willart in Arras. The sheet, formerly folded in four, thus presents two longitudinal and transverse folds. It is decorated with woodcuts, depicting bones in the fire and an arrow in the direction of return. The main vignette is an initial letter "V" with the ceremonial attributes of Death. On the verso, address writings and the name of the deceased are mentioned in old ink. Very beautiful overall condition.
