This work is an important collection of texts by travelers dedicated to Alsace, compiled and commented on by the Alsatian scholar and folklorist Auguste Stoeber, a major figure in Alsatian culture in the 19th century. It gathers extracts from French and foreign authors describing Alsatian cities, landscapes, monuments, and customs, offering a relevant testimony on the perception of the region across several centuries.
