Alphabetical table 4 pp. The whole constitutes a source of primary importance for the history of printing in Lorraine and for the regional bibliography of the 19th century, Beaupré's works still being referenced today for the identification of ancient prints, typographic workshops, and Lorraine intellectual productions. These publications, initially disseminated in the form of academic memoirs, offprints, and successive deliveries, also testify to the scholarly practices of the 19th century in learned societies and the progressive constitution of bibliographic knowledge. The Academy of Stanislas, founded in Nancy in 1750 under the patronage of Stanislas Leszczyński, former King of Poland and Duke of Lorraine, is a learned society dedicated to sciences, letters, and arts, whose Memoirs constituted an important vector for the dissemination of regional scholarly works in the 19th century. It brought together magistrates, doctors, academics, and local scholars, playing a central role in the intellectual life of Lorraine. The dedicatee of the autograph inscription, Dr. H. Simonin, belongs to this scholarly Nancy milieu of the 19th century: a doctor by training and local scholar, he frequented the intellectual societies of Lorraine and the circles of scientific and historical correspondence, within which offprints and dedicated works frequently circulated. This inscription thus testifies to the scholarly circulation of Beaupré's works within the Lorraine medical and academic network. Homogeneous documentary set of great historical value, representative of the birth of regional scientific bibliography in France and the publication practices of learned societies in the 19th century. Jean-Nicolas Beaupré was vice-president of the Tribunal of Nancy, Member of the Society of Sciences, Letters and Arts of this city, Correspondent of the Royal Society of Antiquaries of France and several academies.
Set of first editions by Beaupré, a major reference in Lorraine bibliography, with signature, dedication, and a numbered print 41/300. Collected works of primary importance for the history of regional printing in the 19th century.
